Lauren + Nate’s beautiful wedding was elegantly simple yet rustic and perfectly nestled in the mountains at their Squabetty retreat. The most important part of their day was that their family and friends enjoyed themseleves, relaxed and laughed – and that they did. Local, sustainable options from farm to table catering to local flowers were also of great importance. Lauren, Nate and their friends began their day by the pool, followed by a sweet ceremony with a million dollar view. Guests were greeted to cocktail hour with a display of artisanal cheeses and vegetables from around the state, as well as a number of passed hors d’oeuvres including sweet and savory bites of fried local chicken with honey butter and our smoked housemade bratwurst with maple mustard. Lauren and nate shared their first dance on the lawn before inviting guests to join them for a family style dinner. Meredith from Clayton Floral decorated each table with arrangements of locally grown flowers, including many she grew herself. She even used her home grown kale in the arrangements and in Lauren’s bouquet which added the perfect whimsical touch. We served large, colorful platters of locally raised chicken, fire roasted eggplant, heirloom tomatoes, and summer squashes with fresh mint. Guests then danced the night away in the barn on site and camped under a clear starry sky. A perfect, localvore lovestory.
